We’re happy to announce the statewide launch of Smuttynose!  They’ve been brewing solid and highly rated beers out of New Hampshire for two decades.  We have two beers in stock today and expect a couple more next week.  See below for details.

Upcoming Events, 6-8pm

Wednesday, September 17th

A few weeks back a brand new cidery from right here in South Austin opened their doors.  We’re hosting the owners of Texas Keeper Cider this Wedn 9/17 as they sample out the very dry Texas Keeper #1.  It’s a blend of 5 different apple varieties and finished very dry.  No sweet cider here!

Thursday, September 18th

We’re lucky enough to be the very first retail partner to launch Save the World Brewing’s latest release!  Sol Hominis (meaning The Sun of Man) is a Belgian golden strong ale that comes in at an impressive 10% ABV.  Cory from the brewery will be in the house pouring free samples of all of their beers.  If you haven’t had STW beers yet, they are all excellently balanced versions of Belgian style ales.

Friday, September 19th

We couldn’t more excited to have a very special Friday evening tasting with Founders Brewing.  Founders is one of the best things to ever come out of Michigan, which is an impressive statement considering it shares that list with the likes of Tim Allen, Alice Cooper & Dave Coulier.  Myk O’Connor of Whisker Wars TV fame is now the Founders rep and he’ll be pouring free samples of all of the excellent Founders brews.

New Beers This Week

Dogfish Head Punkin’ Ale – One of the most highly sought after pumpkin seasonals.  Punkin’ Ale is a full-bodied, spiced brown ale brewed with baked pumpkins, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar.   7% ABV/Milton, DE

Smuttynose Robust Porter – The first of the new Smuttynose beers to hit the market, this robust porter is a perfect example of the style, pulling in a 99 on ratebeer.com.  A hearty ebony colored ale that starts with a rich malty palate finished with clean hops and notes of coffee and chocolate.  5.7% ABV/Hampton, NH

Smuttynose Finest Kind IPA – The citrusy hop flavor comes from a mixture of Simcoe and Santiams and is pleasantly balanced by a smooth bitterness from the Amarillo hops. The beer itself is light bodied and crisp with a golden color that will throw a slight haze, as we bottle it unfiltered.  6.9% ABV/Hampton, NH

Oskar Blues Ten Fidy Stout – The highly rated and sought after imperial stout from Oskar Blues is back in stock!  This titanic, immensely viscous stout is loaded with inimitable flavors of chocolate-covered caramel and coffee and hide a hefty 98 IBUs underneath the smooth blanket of malt.  Ten FIDY is the ultimate celebration of dark malts and boundary-stretching beer.  10.5% ABV/Longmont, CO

Harpoon Pumpkin UFO – The malt combination provides a smooth body and slightly sweet flavor, which balances perfectly with the earthy notes derived from the pure pumpkin.  5.9% ABV/Boston, MA

Victory Helios – A Belgian style farmhouse ale with German malts, European hops & Belgian yeast.  Lots of barnyard funk notes and a bit of citrus, too.  Very dry, crisp & refreshing.  7.5% ABV/Downington, PA

Bavik Camaraderie* – A Belgian style tripel brewed in collaborate with BJ’s Brewhouse.  Spicy, fruity Belgian yeast sit on a nice malty backbone.  8% ABV/Harelbeke, Belgium   *Arriving Friday

Brooklyn Post Road Pumpkin – Hundreds of pounds of pumpkins are blended into the mash of each batch, creating a beer with an orange amber color, warm pumpkin aroma, biscuity malt center, and crisp finish.  5% ABV/Brooklyn, NY

Boulevard Hibiscus Gose* – A great introductory sour beer, Hibiscus Gose receives coriander and sea salt during boiling, then we steep dried hibiscus flowers at the end to create a vibrant pink hue (really, though, it’s pink!). The result is a tangy, sweet and sour ale with a refreshing citrus character.  4.2% ABV/Kansas City, MO  *Arriving Friday

Boulevard Bob’s 47 Oktoberfest* – Bob’s ’47 Oktoberfest is a medium-bodied, dark amber brew with a malty flavor and well-balanced hop character. With this Munich-style lager we salute our friend Bob Werkowitch, Master Brewer and 1947 graduate of the U.S. Brewer‘s Academy. 5.8% ABV/Kansas City, MO  *Arriving Friday

Baladin Nora – One of the few brands we have in stock from Italy, this Egyptian inspired brew is spiced with ginger, myrrh, and orange peel.  Spicy, citrusy and herbal.  6.8% ABV/Piozzo, Italy

Baladin Isaac – The creamy head, the intentionally cloudy, apricot color and the scent of yeast and citrus, which blend into spicy harmonies of coriander and peeled oranges, call you from the glass. Refreshing to the palate, it has a light body and is very easy to drink. 5% ABV/Piozzo, Italy

Baladin Wayan – 5 cereals: barley, spelt, wheat, rye and buckwheat. 9 spices, of which 5 peppers, in a renewed mix. Fizzy and refreshing, with a light, slightly cloudy color.

Brouwerij Alvinne Wild West – Golden blond ale fermented with Brouwerij Alvinne’s Morpheus house yeast. Aged in Bordeaux red wine barrels for eight months. Discover the mildly sour taste of lactic acid produced by the Morpheus yeast.  6.0% ABV/Moen, Belgium

Abita Pecan Harvest – Abita’s fall seasonal from their Harvest series, this one is an amber brewed with Louisiana roasted pecans.  Since the base recipe isn’t as roasty as a pecan brown ale or porter, you do get a lot of pecan flavor in this one.  5.2% ABV/Abita Springs, LA

Abita Oktoberfest – Abita’s first Oktoberfest recipe is a bit chewier than other Marzens, so the resulting beer has a bit more bite than most.  It still finishes clean & crisip like a Marzen should should.

Coffer Carbonated Cold Brewed Coffee – We’re excited to announce our very first non-alcoholic product in the store, a locally launched & produced cold brewed coffee product that is naturally fermented in the bottle using champagne yeast.  It’s still a food product at less than .5% ABV even given the bottle fermentation.  Smooth, rich and delicious!

Wasatch Black O’Lantern Pumpkin Stout* – A stout base receives a heaping of pumpkin spice to add to the roasted malt.  Spicy with notes of coffee and chocolate.  6.5% ABV/Park City, UT  *Arriving Friday

Brunehaut Triple* – A true gluten free Belgian Tripel!  *Arriving Friday

Biere du Boucanier Golden, Red and Dark* – All three of these Belgian style ales from Brouwerj Van Steenberge are highly rated and excellent examples of their respective styles.   *Arriving Friday
