We have a real treat for you this July. For one month, Peticolas Brewing out of Dallas will be releasing kegs of their tasty beers as part of their Summer Beercation, and we’re taking full advantage. Friday, 7/5, drop by to sample their Velvet Hammer, Golden Opportunity, and Sit Down or I’ll Sit You Down. We’ll have other kegs as the month rolls on, so drop in and try some before they’re gone.
World Cup! We’re winding down, and matches are getting more intense (I’m looking at you, Belgium-Japan). Keep coming in to WhichCraft for the games. During our business hours, we’ll be sure to have games on with sound, and also running a soccer special: with the purchase of two TacoDeli tacos you get free coffee (or $2.50 off an espresso drink), and we’ll have free popcorn and happy hour during games, too. Leave the vuvuzelas at home.
And on Monday, July 9, we have our next Style Night with the Beer Museum. This month: lagers! We’ll learn about the difference between lagers and ales, how a lager is brewed and taste several different styles from the game changing Czech Pilsener to the newest “it beer,” Kölsch. This event will be hosted at WhichCraft Tap Room. The Beer Museum will be setting up the traveling roadshow version of the museum’s exhibits and will dive deep into the style’s history, origins, and how it’s brewed. WhichCraft’s very own Certified Cicerone Chuck Stephens will also provide in-depth knowledge about the ingredients used in each beer and tasting techniques. Expect 5 oz pours of four different lagers (and maybe a bonus or 2!) as we discuss them as a group. Get your tickets here before we sell out.
Also, have you always wanted to work at your favorite local bottle shop: talking beer, selling beer, and sometimes sampling said beer? Now’s your chance! We’re looking for someone – or someones – to work part-time at both of our locations. Prior retail experience is helpful, though not necessary, but you must have a love of beer (and coffee) and be helpful, outgoing, and willing to learn. Email resumes to jody [at] whichcraftbeerstore.com.
And keep picking up 6 packs of Zilker Brewing as our July Brewery of the Month. We’re selling their Marco IPA, Parks & Rec, and Coffee Milk Stout for 7.99 all month.

Avery Bug Zapper – Sour-aged blended ale. Infused with mint, ginger, and lime. 6% ABV / Boulder, CO / Availability: Good
Left Hand Saison aux Baies Ameres – Dry and crisp farmhouse-style ale. Mild tartness with bitter Colorado chokecherries. 6.8% ABV / Longmont, CO / Availability: Good
Left Hand Wheels Gose Round – Gose with Raspberry and Lemon Peel. 4.4% ABV / Longmont, CO / Availability: Good
Sweetwater Twisted Fish – This pilsner uses traditional Czech yeast and fermentation temps, with traditional and non-traditional pilsner hops. 5.3% ABV / Atlanta, GA / Availability: Good
Goodwood Hemp Gose – Slightly salty, nice and tart, with a dash of dank — this shrub-touched Gose is unlike any other you’ve had before! This interpretation of this german-style sour beer is crisp, light and refreshing. The malt body compliments the tartness of the brew and the hemp adds a light herbal aroma and a slight funk on the finish! 5.12% ABV / Louisville, KY / Availability: Decent
Goodwood Bourbon Barrel Stout – An homage to Kentucky’s proud distilling legacy – brewed with the same limestone water as its namesake whiskey and patiently seasoned in bourbon barrels. This silky American stout has notes of oak, dark roasted malts and, of course, bourbon. Roasted barley produces chocolate and coffee flavors with a lasting vanilla finish. 8% ABV / Louisville, KY / Availability: Decent
Brazos Valley Double Mama – Double dry-hopped Mama Tried. 7.4% ABV / Brenham, TX / Availability: Good
Fairweather EZ Tea – This summer pounder is a 4.6% ABV mead-infused with Catspring Yaupon tea. It’s their take on a hard iced tea. 4.6% ABV / Austin, TX / Availability: Good
Fredonia Banita – Just like dipping your feet into the cool water of Banita Creek on a sunny Texas summer day. Bright yellow gold in color, with a mild hop bitterness from Galena hop additions and a hint of sweetness from Honey Malt in the grain bill. 5.2% ABV / Nacogdoches, TX / Availability: Good (SoLa now, Mueller Friday)
Fredonia Nine Flags – Red brick main street, red dirt of Nacogdoches, red of the Fredonia and Texas flag, this amber ale pays tribute to them all as well as the nine flags that have flown over Nacogdoches through out the last 300 years. Bold malt forward, mahogany red in color, with a solid hops finish to balance out all those beautiful crystal malts. 6.3% ABV / Nacogdoches, TX / Availability: Good (SoLa now, Mueller Friday)
Fredonia Angry Axe – Buckets of Cascade and Columbus hops complement the Pale Two-Row, Crystal 10 and Melanoidin malts. Some slight red tones can be seen in this caramel colored ale that leaves a pleasantly bitter taste on the middle and back of the tongue on the finish. Weather you are tailgating or just having a cold hoppy one with friends and family at the house, Angry Axe IPA is a great companion. 6.4% ABV / Nacogdoches, TX / Availability: Good (SoLa now, Mueller Friday)
Fredonia Native Texan – Whether you are sitting with a friend talking about life or enjoying a cold brew after mowing the back yard, this is the beer for you. Light golden color, low malt, low hops, crisp dry finishing session Kolsch style ale. Great for cutting the dust on a hot Texas afternoon. 4.4% ABV / Nacogdoches, TX / Availability: Good (SoLa now, Mueller Friday)
Strange Land Peach Berliner Weisse – Slightly tart and refermented with Fredericksburg peaches. 3.7% ABV / Austin, TX / Availability: Good
New Beers on Draft at WhichCraft Taproom
Full Draft List Available on our Website
St. Elmo Carl – A Pale Golden Beer – Full-flavored yet very drinkable. Perfectly refreshing for the 8-month Texas Summer. German Pilsner malt, Tettnanger Hops, and clean Kolsch yeast come together in graceful harmony to make the perfect everyday beer. 4.6% ABV / Austin, TX
Brazos Valley Wasted Days – Blonde ale with Poteet Strawberries. 4.9% ABV / Brenham, TX
Peticolas Velvet Hammer – Velvet Hammer appears as a dark, ruby reddish-brown ale beneath a sheath of protective off-white foam. It is malt-forward with elements of caramel and the sweetness of light brown sugar, balanced nicely by a combination of floral hops and a noticeable alcohol bite. It’s a sturdy brew with a smooth character which belies both an inner strength and a slightly full body, along with a moderate bitterness to round out the taste. 9% ABV / Dallas, TX
Peticolas Golden Opportunity – A beer modeled after the classic styles of Koln, Germany, but which deliberately lacks the enhanced fruitiness of the typical American interpretation. Straw-like in color with a dense white head, this medium-bodied brew has a light, pleasant malt aroma with a hint of sweetness and faint bitterness. It is clean, well-balanced and suitably carbonated for a crisp, refreshing feel. 4.6% ABV / Dallas, TX
Peticolas Sit Down or I’ll Sit You Down – It’s dry hopped with over a pound of hops per barrel of beer. It’s gold in color and the floral ester aroma is high. The hop bitterness is high, but not at all harsh. The hop flavor is high, fresh, and lively. Yet with all of their beers, it’s all about balance and this one is no exception. The malt character is fairly high and provides a tremendously full mouthfeel. Finally, the alcohol in this beer is intentionally present (and delicious). 10% ABV / Dallas, TX
Tupps American Wheat – Brewed with wheat, citrus, coriander, and California ale yeast, this is a killer, crisp and refreshing year-round brew. 5.6% ABV / McKinney, TX
Live Oak Berliner Weisse – This traditional wheat ale, made famous in the nineteenth century in the city of Berlin, features a bready malt character, low bitterness, and effervescent carbonation. Clean, tart, and quenching, this beer is available in limited quantities to be enjoyed. 3.2% ABV / Austin, TX
