Merry Christmas from WhichCraft!

Well another year is coming to a close and we can’t be thankful enough for your continued support and patronage this year. We’re lucky to be able to do what we do and share so many wonderful beers with y’all. You each have many places from which to choose where to buy beer but we’re continually grateful for your visits to us. 2016 has big things in store for us, we can’t wait to continue forward on our journey of bringing great beer to the people! From Jody, Melissa, Tim, Candace, Nic D, Nick C, Rob and Kris – Merry Christmas!

We’ll be closed Christmas Day, but regular hours beginning Saturday 12/26. Enjoy the holiday!

Free In-Store Tastings

Wednesday, December 30th

Ranger Creek has a brand new Austin rep, so we’re breaking her in with a tasting of the brand new bourbon barrel Russian Imperial Stout they just released (see below). We’ll also try some standard RC faves. Don’t miss it!

New Beers This Week

Back in stock:  Epic Big Bad Baptist, Ballast Point Calm Before the Storm, Ballast Point Victory at Sea, De Proef Wekken Sour, Anchor Christmas, Alpine Pure Hoppiness, Stone Coffee Milk Stout, Brooklyn Black Ops, Jester King Noble King (fresh batch!).

Rahr & Sons Bourbon Barrel Aged Winter Warmer – One of the most popular annual releases from Rahr & Sons, they take a rich & malty winter warmer and age it for 3-4 months in bourbon barrels. Oaky, vanilla, rich & slightly sweet. 9% ABV/Fort Worth, TX/Ratebeer 98/Availability: very limited

Rahr & Sons 11th Anniversary – Rahr celebrated their 11th anniversary this year and crowned the achievement by making a huge Russian imperial stout brewed with coconut. The coffee and chocolate flavors mesh well with the coconut; a great beer to drink for the season! 9% ABV/Fort Worth, TX/No ratings yet/Availability: very limited

Ranger Creek Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout – This huge Russian Imperial Stout clocks in at 13.3% ABV and was aged in a combination of first-fill Wild Turkey bourbon and Ranger Creek .36 bourbon barrels. The nose features toffee, raisin, and sweet, boozy bourbon notes. Roasted malt, oak, and vanilla dominate the taste with more nuanced flavors of caramel and cherry developing as it warms. 13.3% ABV/San Antonio, TX/No ratings yet/Availability: plenty

Zilker Coffee Milk Stout – The boys from Zilker are back with their third canned beer. Not bad for being less than a year old! This one is a 5.9% coffee milk stout inspired by Café Cubano. Lactose milk sugar adds the sweetness and Zilker used freshly roasted beans from fellow east-siders Flat Track Coffee Roasters. In crushable 6 pack format. Canned on Tuesday! 5.9% ABV/Austin, TX/No ratings yet/Availability: a sh*t ton

No Label Perpetual Peace – Last year, No Label’s Perpetual Peace bourbon barrel aged wee heavy was a huge hit, and it’s back with a fresh batch now. Plenty of  bourbon flavor comes through and sits well with the rich caramel and toffee flavors of the wee heavy. 9.5% ABV/Katy, TX/Ratebeer 93/Availability: limited

Ballast Point Homework Series Robust Porter – Homebrewers, take note. The first in  Ballast Point’s Homework Series just hit Texas. For those that don’t (yet) homebrew, maybe this will encourage you to start! Each bottle has a neck hanger that lays out the exact ingredients you’d need to brew the beer. That way you can take it to your local homebrew show (shout out to SoCo Homebrew!) and they’ll help you source the ingredients to make your own batch. Dark black with ruby red highlights, this Robust Porter is rich and complex. A blend of UK malts, chocolate rye and Belgian candi sugar provide a sweet chocolate, yet rich earthy quality. Malt forward with an aroma full of roasted malts, toffee and dark fruit. 7.8% ABV/San Diego, CA/Ratebeer 93/Availability: plenty

Real Ale Ghost Eye – Real Ale partnered up with local metal band The Sword for the second time this fall to brew a batch of beer. Ghost Eye is the name of a song off of their recent record. It’s an oatmeal stout which is silky smooth with nice hints of coffee and chocolate. At 6.5% ABV it’s not as thick and heavy as some stouts out there, but certainly goes down easy. 6.5% ABV/Blanco, TX/No ratings yet/Availability: decent

Freetail Despertardo en Manzanilla – The first batch of Witicus double rye wit at their S Presa brewpub was aged in a combination of our old pub barrels that produced Ananke and Woodicus. What came out was a lightly tart but slightly fruity ale. 5.3% ABV/San Antonio, TX/No ratings yet/Availability: limited
