Brazos Valley BotM and a Wheat Style Night

Folks, great job buying up our Zilker 6 packs for our July Brewery of the Month. But now it’s on to August, and with it, a truly great deal to beat the summer heat: Brazos Valley Brewing. All month long, we’ll be offering their Mama Tried IPA, Willin’ Mosaic Pale, 7 Spanish Angels, and Two-Step Pils for…$5.99. Holy cow. Stop reading, start driving over. Actually, read just a bit longer, then start heading over.

Because we have some great events lined up this weekend. At Lamar, we have back-to-back Austin tastings. First, Independence shows up Friday night, and then we have an early Saturday tasting with Live Oak. Up at Mueller, Friday brings in Alesmith for a Pint Night with their Mount Crushmore and Hawaiian Speedway stout. Saturday, we welcome in Moontower Cider to launch their Pomme Blush – a rose cider – on tap and in cans. Both the Pmme Blush and Semi-Dry will be $7.99/4pk during the event. Wowee!

And finally, it’s time again for our monthly meetup with the Beer Museum. Our Style Night returns this Monday, August 6, at 7pm. For month, we explore the wide wonderful world of wheats. Learn what the addition of wheat does for beer and taste German, Belgian, and American styles of wheat beer. The Beer Museum will be setting up the traveling roadshow version of the museum’s exhibits and will dive deep into the style’s history, origins, and how it’s brewed. Special guest and Certified Cicerone Laura Christie from Hopsimath will also provide in-depth knowledge about the ingredients used in each beer and tasting techniques. Expect 5 oz pours of four or five beers (and maybe a bonus or two). Tickets are $20 and can be found here.

New Beers This Week

(All beer available at both WhichCraft locations unless otherwise noted)

Back in Stock: Upland Cherry (SoLa Only)

Brazos Valley Double Willin’ – A double dry hopped version of their Willin’ pale ale. 6.5% ABV / Brenham, TX / Availability: Decent

5 Stones Shepherd Warrior – IPA dry hopped with plentiful amount of Citra and Mosaic hops. 7.2% ABV / New Braunfels, TX / Availability: Limited

5 Stones Braunfelser – An unfiltered German-style Keller Pils, utilizing two vacant horizontal fermentation vessels intended for the production of fruit beer in the warmer months. Keller Pils, or unfiltered Pilsner, deviates a bit from the idea many conjure up when thinking of Pilsner. Being unfiltered, it still contains some yeast leftover from fermentation. It is somewhat cloudy, textured, and softer in the presence of its yeast.  4.2% ABV / New Braunfels, TX / Availability: Good

Stone Anti-Matter IIPA – 22nd Anniversary Double IPA. 10.2% ABV / Escondido, CA / Availability: Decent

Lagunitas Cherry Jane – This sweet tart sour ale is full of Turkish Delight cherries, giving it a puckered up punch of cherry charm, then it’s fermented with some Brettanomyces for that extra funky funk. 5.5% ABV / Petaluma, CA / Availability: Good

Hitachino Nest Real Ginger – Ginger Ale is brewed using fresh fragrant raw ginger. 8% ABV / Naka-shi, Ibaraki, Japan / Availability: Good / SoLa Only

Upland Galaxy Grove – Collaboration with Cigar City. Dry hopped ale with guava and peach. 7.3% ABV / Bloomington, IN / Availability: Decent (At SoLa now, Arriving Friday at Mueller)

Upland Iridescent – Dried apricot and ginger were aged on their blonde sour base ale in wine barrels for 3-4 months to create this refreshing sour ale with aromas of apricot and ginger, followed by tart, tropical flavors. 6% ABV / Bloomington, IN / RateBeer 90 / Availability: Decent (At SoLa now, Arriving Friday at Mueller)

Upland Oak & Rose – This blend of base sour blonde ale aged on Chambourcin grapes from Oliver’s Creekbemd Vineyard creates tart and sweet flavors reminiscent of dry rose wine. Beer and wine drinkers alike will love this creation. 6% ABV / Bloomington, IN / Availability: Decent / SoLa Only

Hopfusion Coco Anejo – Start with their Imperial Milk Stout, Fur Slipper. Silky smooth with notes of roasted hazelnut, dark chocolate and toffee and then aged on roasted coconut. Mind blowing coconut infusion! 9% ABV / Fort Worth, TX / Availability: Good

Rabbit Hole El Conejo – A crisp pale Mexican lager which remains virtuous on the palate. The clean flavors are derived from a simple Pilsen malt profile, floral noble hops and a traditional lager yeast. 4.6% ABV / Justin, TX / Availability: Good / SoLa Only

Tupps DDH Batch No. 3 – Double dry hopped IPA with Citra, Idaho-7, and TNT hops. 7.2% ABV / McKinney, TX / Availability: Limited

New Beers on Draft at WhichCraft Taproom

Full Draft List Available on our Website

(512) Export Lager – Pale lager made with organic Pilsen malt and noble hops. Balanced with a well-attenuated body and crisp carbonation. (512)’s first lager! 5.3% ABV / Austin, TX

Tupps DDH #2 – Hopped twice with crazy amounts of Mosaic, Citra, and Galaxy, this IPA has great mouthfeel, low bitterness, and huge aroma. 7.2% ABV / McKinney, TX

Live Oak Hefeweizen – Modeled after the classic wheat beers of Bavaria, Hefeweizen is cloudy and straw-colored with a meringue-like head that lingers to the bottom of the glass. Brewed with an ample volume of wheat malt and few hops, this beer features a unique yeast strain that produces harmonious notes of clove, banana, and vanilla throughout this effervescent brew. A traditional interpretation of a classic style, this idiosyncratic Bavarian beer is perfectly at home here in Texas. 5.2% ABV / Austin, TX

Live Oak Helles – Helles, first cousin to the pilsner, is the daily drinking beer of the Bavarian people. The crisp bright lager contains slightly less hop bitterness than pilsner, highlighting its soft pale malt flavors. Cold fermentation and lagering produce a beer that is brilliant and clean. Please enjoy this beautiful artifact of a culture that places enjoyment of this fine lager bier at the center of society. 4.4% ABV / Austin, TX

Collective Brewing Tropsicle IPA – A tart IPA with guava, grapefruit and Cascade hops. 5.3% ABV / Fort Worth, TX

Hops & Grain Bangin’ Pale – A patio-drinkin’ pale ale brewed with dry English yeast and dry-hopped with Chinook & Mosaic. 4.5% ABV / Austin, TX

Strange Land Grand Cru – Belgian Style Quad brewed with Cognac, Oak and Tart Cherries. 8.7% ABV / Austin, TX

Deschutes Black Raspberry – This sour is beery, beery good….oops we mean berry, berry good. Need we say more? With the addition of Black Raspberry Puree, this gorgeous ale is meant to be sipped and stared at. 4.3% ABV / Bend, OR

Alesmith Mount Crushmore – One of Peter Zien’s original homebrew recipes, this beer uses the addition of rice to create a light, flavorful maltiness. It also has a pleasant floral component from hops added to their hopback and during dry-hopping. The finish is crisp and refreshing, making this the perfect brew for a summer day. 4.8% ABV / San Diego, CA

Alesmith Hawaiian Speedway – Imperial stout with Ka’u Coffee, Coconut, and Vanilla. 12% ABV / San Diego, CA
