Southern Star Black Crack – Southern Star ages their normally outstanding Buried Hatchet stout in bourbon barrels to create a boozy, rich winter treat. Comes in single 16 oz cans! Extremely limited and WILL BE RELEASED STARTING AT 6PM TONIGHT. 10% ABV/Conroe, TX/No ratings yet on this batch/Availability: extremely limited
Brooklyn Black Ops – Barrel-aged in Woodford Reserve bottles, Brooklyn Black Ops is a robust stout aged for four months in bourbon barrels, bottled flat, and re-fermented with Champagne yeast, creating big chocolate and coffee flavors with a rich underpinning of vanilla-like oak notes. 10.5% ABV/Brooklyn, NY/Ratebeer 100/Availability: decent but will go fast.
Victory Java Cask – A collaboration with a Philadelphia’s based restaurant chain, this one is a coffee stout aged in bourbon barrels. Rich aromas of coffee precede an inviting blend of sweet bourbon, oak and a hint of alcohol. A complex fusion of dark chocolate, roasted barley and vanilla is rounded out by robust coffee and a warming heat in this unique and very drinkable stout. 14.3% ABV/Downington, PA/No ratings yet/Availability: limited
Breckenridge Anniversary Rum Barrel Imperial Porter – The recipe starts with an imperial version of Breck’s popular Vanilla Porter, resulting in more prominent flavors and stronger alcohol. It is then aged in Barbados rum barrels to which fresh, wet, vanilla beans from the Veracruz region of Mexico were added. This exotic beer is full of flavor with notes of rum, raisin, and an oaky vanilla finish. 9.8% ABV/Breckenridge, CO/No ratings yet/Availability: extremely limited
Deep Ellum Play Date – A twist on their standard Dallas Blonde as the base that is then fermented to dryness with Medjool Dates. The earthy tea presence of the dates plays well with acidity to create an ale that is truly free-spirited and unique in character. First 12 customers get a free matching glass! 5.4% ABV/Dallas, TX/No ratings yet/Availability: decent/
Stone Sorry Not Sorry – The latest in Stone’s collaboration series is with Bale Breaker Brewing out of Yakima Valley, WA and 4 Hands Brewing from St Louis. They used a couple of experimental hop varieties along with Simcoe, Warrior and Mosaic for a citrusy, melony, stone-fruit-forward IPA. Pureed peaches upped the fruit factor and play well with the hops. 9.3% ABV/Escondido, CA/Ratebeer 98/Availbility: limited
Revolver Mullet Cutter – Brewed with a ridiculous amount of Weyermann Abbey malt for a slight honey sweetness, this beer is finished with three kettle hops: Summit, East Kent Goldings and Brambling Cross and is dry hopped with Citra. Revolver’s first seasonal release in a bomber! 9% ABV/Granbury, TX/Ratebeer 93/Availability: limited
Clown Shoes Evil Crawfish – The tale goes a bar-goer walked into a bar and tried ordering Clown Shoes’ Eagle Claw Fist beer by asking for an “evil crawfish.” Clown Shoes of course had to make a beer by that name, so here you have an imperial red IPA dry hopped with citra, simcoe, mosaic and nelson sauvin. 9% ABV/Ipswich, MA/Beer Advocate 86/Availability: limited
Meridian Hive Rhapsody – The newest release from local meadsters Meridian Hive is a sessionable honey and blackberry wine made with orange blossom honey. With just enough sweetness to achieve a harmonious balance with tannin and acidity, this nectar pairs well with cheese. Semi-sweet and sparkling. 7% ABV/Austin, TX/No ratings yet/Availability: limited
Texas Keeper Cider Noir – If you like cider and you haven’t tried any of the special seasonal releases from hyper-local cider makers TX Keeper you’re just missing out. The Cider Noir is a single varietal cider (Northern Spy apples) to which dark Belgian candi sugar was added to up the ABV before being fermented out. Also orange peel and pecans were added for more flavor kick. 10.1% ABV/Austin, TX/No ratings yet/Availability: plenty
