It’s Mueller’s First Anniversary Fiesta Blowout Spectacular Fun Time Party!

Happy birthday, dear WhichCraft, happy birthday to us. That’s right, WhichCraft Mueller is celebrating its first anniversary this Saturday, 12-8pm, and we want you to join us for this this joyous event. And since it’s our party, we’ll sell cellared beers and tap random kegs if we want to. We’re keeping the bottles a surprise as we stagger selling them every hour, but we’re tapping all dem kegs at noon, yo: Firestone Walker Parabola, Stickee Monkee, and Mocha Merlin; Jester King collaborations Bouffon and Gammalux; Pinthouse Pizza Wet Hop Nomura; a cask of Lone Pint Yellow Rose w/pineapple; and St. Arnold Pumpkinator. We’ll also have a Grilled Cheese bar, pretzels from M’Ladys, and apple pies from Colleen’s Kitchen. Thank you for all your support and patronage these last twelve months, we couldn’t have done it without you.

And it’s another of our favorite times of the year, where we turn to our adoring public and humbly ask you to lavish praise and accolades on us. In other words, it’s time for the Austin Beer Guide Awards. 14 different categories to celebrate everything fantastic in our town’s world of beer.  Check out this link and vote for your favorite brewery, beer, and *ahem* bottle shop and beer bar.

And time is running out to order our Advent calendars. The details about them are here, but long story short: you need to order one! $100 for 24 mystery beers, to be opened each day in December leading up to Christmas. They can be pre-ordered at either location, either in person or over the phone. We’re only making 150 of them this year, and pickup begins November 17, so order one now! But don’t worry, if you miss the pre-ordering deadline, you can just walk your merry selves to either location and purchase one, but they’ll go quick, so ORDER ONE NOW!

New Beers This Week

(All beer available at both WhichCraft locations unless otherwise noted)

Back in Stock: Left Hand Milk Stout (Cans)

Martin House Sea Witch – A spin on their beloved gose made with black Hawaiian lava salt, coriander, and roasted malts. It’s stronger, it’s darker, it’s more tart, and it’s 100% whiskey barrel-aged. Drinking the Sea Witch is a bold and satiating experience. 6.7% ABV / Fort Worth, TX / Availability: Limited

Independence Shiny Diamonds – Crystal and Strata hops create fresh herbal and tropical hop flavors, leading to mild grapefruit peel notes. This hoppy pale ale finishes crisp, clean, and dry. Shiny Diamonds is subtle and complex, like the eyes of a cat in the black and blue. 5.8% ABV / Austin, TX / Availability: Good

Circle Lady Bird IPA -An elegant yet blunt IPA, Lady Bird blossoms with dank and tropical hop aroma, finishing with a smooth floral flavor to balance against its malty complexity. 7.2% ABV / Austin, TX / Availability: Good / Both locations (Mueller Friday)

No Label Elda M – Rich flavors of roasted and chocolate malts with a hint of coffee. This stout is creamy and sweet but not overly filling. It’s perfect for a cold winter day. 6.3% ABV / Katy, TX / RateBeer 82 / Availability: Good

4th Tap Bat Country Foreign Export Stout- Tasty, toasty, raspberry overtones on the nose. 7% ABV / Austin, TX / Availability: Good

Tupps Black Ale – Dark in color but very light in body. Easy on the alcohol but heavy on the rich, smooth flavor. 5.6% ABV / McKinney, TX / Availability: Good / SoLa Only

Cerveceria Calavera Ruta Maya – Dark Belgian-style ale brewed with Ruta Maya coffee. 6% ABV / Puente de Vigas Tlalnepantla, Mexico / Availability: Decent / SoLa Only

Dogfish Head Liquid Truth Serum – A unique IPA brewed using a unique process involving pelletized, powdered, leaf, and liquefied hops, creating a blissfully inefficient IPA that’s truthfully hoppy without being deceptively bitter. You’ll find the perfect match of citrusy and tropical notes, making for a zesty finish. You can handle the truth. 6.8% ABV / Milton, DE / RateBeer 93 / Availability: Decent

Dogfish Head Pennsylvania Tuxedo – Brewed in collaboration with family-run outerwear company Woolrich, the two like-minded companies came together to make a beer with Pacific Northwest hop varieties, making a concoction with a grassy citrus kick complemented by the resinous conifer qualities of fresh green spruce tips. 8.5% ABV / Milton, DE / RateBeer 89 / Availability: Decent

Harpoon Winter Warmer – A full-bodied, rich ale that uses a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg to achieve its spirited flavor. 5.9% ABV / Boston, MA / Availability: Good / SoLa Only

Odell Friek (12oz.) – Kriek lambic blended from three different aged kriek beers up to ten years old. Aged in Woodcut barrels. Fresh Colorado-grown raspberries are then added to the wild fermented brew just prior to the final blending, creating a subtle sweetness to balance the tart cherry flavors with an effervescent, dry finish. 6.9% ABV / Fort Collins, CO / RateBeer 99 / Availability: Limited

Stone Xocoveza Charred – Time spent in bourbon barrels gave an already complex beer even more complexity and flavor intensity, layering additional caramel-like and vanilla flavors on top of those already present. Aromas of rich coffee and dark chocolate are followed by nutmeg and cinnamon; a lush, heavy mouthfeel laden with charred oak and toffee engulfs the palate on the first sip. Lingering pasilla pepper and soft oak flavors persist through an exceptionally long finish in this intensely rich and satisfying beer. 10% ABV / Escondido, CA / RateBeer 100 / Availability: Very Limited

Stone Fyordor’s Classic – A special batch of classic Stone Imperial Russian Stout – a rich, massively aromatic beer with notes of black currants, coffee, and roastiness – was brewed to create this barrel-aged beauty. Rich coffee and bitter and milk chocolate flavors abound, while dark charred oak, rich vanilla, and caramel from the bourbon barrels elevate and further enhance the heady flavors of the original beer. 13.5% ABV / Escondido, CA / Availability: Very Limited

Stone Mikhail’s Odd (2016 Stone Espresso Imperial Russian Stout aged in Bourbon Barrels) Like the classic version, this Odd Year edition was brewed in the authentic, historical style, but with the addition of espresso beans, producing roasty bitterness and deep, rich coffee flavors. Even after nearly a year in the barrel, intense coffee flavors abound from both dark malts and espresso, while rich caramel and vanilla flavors from the bourbon-infused oak add layers of complexity, a touch of sweetness and a vibrant dark fruit finish. 13.5% ABV / Escondido, CA / RateBeer 100 / Availability: Very Limited

Avery Tweak – Avery’s Mephistopheles Imperial Stout, with a chunk of coffee thrown in. If you haven’t geeked out enough, they aged it for four months in bourbon barrels. 16% ABV / Boulder, CO / RateBeer 100 / Availability: Decent / SoLa Only

Avery Amicitia – Sour ale blended from an exclusive selection of Cabernet Sauvignon barrels provided by Larkmead and Chateau Montelena vineyards. 8.2% ABV / Boulder, CO / Availability: Decent / SoLa Only

Avery Old Jubilation – This winter ale has a gorgeous mahogany hue, a hint of hazelnuts, and a finish reminiscent of mocha and toffee. No spices, just a perfect blend of five specialty malts. Cellarable for 3+ years. 8.3% ABV / Boulder, CO / RateBeer 94 / Availability: Good

Brouwerij Huyghe Delirium Noel – Brewed only for the Christmas and New Year, Noël completes the Delirium trilogy. Its appearance is a superb warm copper to red color, recalling Nocturnum except in its taste. It hides its subtlety by multiple levels of flavor and should be approached with confidence, with a tinge of typical Christmas, sauced with a sweet touch, then bitterness. 10% ABV / Melle, Belgium / RateBeer 94 / Availability: Good / SoLa Only

Alamo Holiday IPA – A hearty, American-style IPA that delivers a spicy, Northwest-hops bitterness with a cheery citrus and floral aroma. 7/1% ABV / San Antonio, TX / Availability: Good / SoLa Only

Revolver Harvey Relief Ale – Golden Ale brewed with two-row Pilsner malt, Abbey malt, and hopped with Saphir and Citra. 100% of all profits go directly to charities actively serving coastal communities affected by the devastation from Hurricane Harvey. 5.2% ABV / Granbury, TX / Availability: Good / Both location (Mueller Friday)

Ballast Point Victory at Sea – Two of the world’s oldest beverages join forces to conquer your palate. Victory at Sea embodies the art of masterful brewing by infusing a velvety Imperial Porter with pure vanilla flavor and specially-selected, hand roasted coffee. The addition of cold brewed coffee to the beer lends a subtle roasted flavor to this robust imperial porter, blending perfectly with rich vanilla and caramel undertones. 10% ABV / San Diego, CA / RateBeer 100 / Availability: Good / Both locations (Mueller Friday)
